Alcohol Policies

BASICS:
  • You must be 21 to purchase alcohol. No exceptions.
  • A valid ID is required for every sale.
  • Limit two (2) drinks per transaction.
  • No sales or service to visibly intoxicated persons.
  • Underage drinking is prohibited.
  • Purchasing or providing alcohol to minors is prohibited.
  • Guests who violate this policy may be ejected and risk arrest and loss of ticket privileges.
  • Sales will start when the gates or doors open.
  • Sales will end at designated “stop times” set by the SEC:
Football End of the 3rd Quarter
Men’s Basketball Second Half 12-Minute TV Timeout
Women’s Basketball End of the 3rd Quarter
Baseball End of the top of the 7th inning
Softball End of the top of the 5th inning
Other Sports *At a designated time, no later than when 75% of regulation length competition is scheduled to be completed

FAQs:
Will Ole Miss Athletics employees sell alcohol on game day?
No. Centerplate, our concessions vendor, will manage the responsible sale and service of alcohol in all Ole Miss Athletics facilities. Centerplate adheres to stringent standards that comply with all applicable law and SEC policy. All Centerplate employees and volunteers will undergo robust alcohol service training such as TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures), TEAM (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management) or equivalent training. Each Centerplate employee or volunteer who sells or serves alcohol must be 21.

What types of beverages will be sold?
Beer and spiked seltzer will be sold at Vaught Hemingway Stadium, the Pavilion and other designated Ole Miss Athletics facilities during athletics games or events.

What ID must I show to prove I am 21?
A valid, government-issued ID with a photograph is required, e.g, a driver’s license, state-issued ID card, passport, or military ID. Student and University IDs are not accepted.

If I make more than one trip to the concessions stand, will I be carded at each transaction?
Yes. A valid ID must be presented at every transaction to prevent underage drinking.

How many beverages may I purchase at once?
You may purchase up to two (2) beverages in one transaction with a valid ID. You may not combine purchases for multiple people in one transaction if doing so exceeds the two drinks limit.

How will the beverages be served?
Any beer or spiked seltzer beverages offered for sale will be dispensed in University-issued cups or in cans or plastic bottles that must be opened prior to being served to the purchaser.

All persons are strictly prohibited from throwing cups, cans, or bottles, using them as projectiles or weapons, or otherwise handling them in a way that disrupts or interferes with any athletics game or event. Any person violating this rule is subject to arrest, removal from the athletics facility and a loss of ticket privileges. Students and University faculty and staff may also face University sanctions and disciplinary action.

If cans or plastic bottles are used as projectiles or otherwise cause game management issues (e.g., security concerns or the delay, interference, or disruption of a game), the University is subject to sanctions from the SEC, including fines and a suspension of the University’s authority to sell beer and spiked seltzer in Ole Miss Athletics facilities.

May I purchase beer from my seat or roving vendors in the aisles?
No. The SEC only allows sales in designated stationary locations, such as concessions stands. No beverages will be sold in the aisles, general seating areas, premium areas or suites.

Will beer be sold at every concession stand?
No. Certain stands will remain alcohol-free.

Will alcohol be sold in the student section of Vaught Hemingway stadium?
No. We will not sell in the three concession stands located under the student section.

How will Ole Miss Athletics promote responsible drinking, including alcohol abstinence?
A portion of the revenue generated from alcohol sales will be used to subsidize alcohol awareness, prevention and education programs on campus. Ole Miss Athletics will also work with various groups on a designated driver program and responsible drinking campaign.

Will beer sales require additional security or police presence?
We will continue our existing initiatives to ensure a safe fan experience for all guests. We will assess our efforts as needed and will make any necessary adjustments.

May I take any unfinished beer home at the end of the game?
No. All beverages must be consumed or discarded before you leave the stadium or arena.

How will Ole Miss Athletics manage unruly fans at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium?
All persons are expected to act and drink responsibly. No beer or other beverages will be sold to any person believed to be intoxicated. Event security and campus police will monitor the stadium to ensure an effective law enforcement response should incidents occur. Visibly intoxicated or disruptive fans may be ejected, detained or arrested if the circumstances warrant. You are encouraged to report any misconduct or unruly behavior by texting “REBS” to 69050.
